Our team is designing an interactive online curriculum to reconnect previously disengaged youth with agriculture. This educational platform will address youth unemployment and give them the tools necessary to support themselves through entrepreneurial agribusiness strategies. Worldwide distribution will be channeled through the YAIC website platform and mobile app channels. The curriculum will take a participatory approach to education by enabling youth to develop their own ag-innovation, prepare an agribusiness plan, and establish a successful cooperative through networking with peers. Youth will then be able to pool resources in this democratically led and ran institution, which will enable them to increase capacity. We see this curriculum engaging youth in agriculture by changing their negative perceptions of the industry and overcoming the challenges of an aging population of farmers. Our curriculum will empower youth with the skills necessary to add value to the agricultural sector, improve their economic circumstances, and ultimately address food insecurity in their communities and throughout the world.
